Professor Hongxia Wang from QUT has been awarded a prestigious $3 million ARC Australian Laureate Fellowship for her groundbreaking work on next-generation perovskite solar cells.

Her project, “Molecular engineering and doping for efficient and affordable solar cells,” aims to boost the durability and reduce the cost of perovskite solar technology. By using molecular engineering and low-cost carbon electrodes, the research seeks to replace expensive materials like gold and improve stability through advanced doping techniques.

“This will pave the way for scalable, long-lasting solar cells and support Australia’s leadership in solar energy,” said Professor Wang.

As the 2024 Georgina Sweet Laureate Fellow, Professor Wang will also champion the development of early- and mid-career researchers, especially women and underrepresented groups, across chemistry, physics, and materials science.

Her ultimate goal: to develop affordable energy technologies that address global energy challenges.
